About Artist-Author Shirley Ryan

Artist-Author Shirley Ryan has been practicing contemplative meditation for over 30 years, and continues to explore the internal and external benefits of walking meditation exercises, Tai Chi, subjective fantasy, breath work, and cleansing processes on a daily basis.

Meditation has played an important role in her work as a spiritually-based life coach, helping people to reach their life goals. During the course of her work, she was led to create Searching for the Waters of Antiquity (order the book) to use as a self-awareness tool. Searching for the Waters of Antiquity uniquely integrates Shirley’s extensive career experience while blending her skills of painting and meditation. See "How to use the book."

Today, Shirley facilitates workshops and speaks publicly on a range of topics, guided meditation to spiritually-based work sites. See Shirley's calendar of events.

Shirley’s interests include painting, writing, and designing spiritual meditation gardens. Shirley lives in Petaluma, California with her husband Robert.

"Sarah read Searching for the Waters of Antiquity out loud to Annie and me as we sat huddled around the book. We all had this visceral experience, relating to the very beginning passage. We couldn't believe it, it was like boom! This powerful, emotional moment that is just impossible to describe. Such a gift . . . we all felt it at once. I immediately ordered 5 more books for gifts."
